Robert W. Small

For more than 30 years Mr. Small has counselled individuals and businesses regarding business formation, mergers, business “divorces,” contracting, real estate, shareholder rights, and employment law. A significant portion of his practice involves protecting business secrets and competitive information by drafting and enforcing employment agreements including agreements for senior management positions, and covenants not to compete. He litigates these matters in state and federal courts nationwide at both the trial and appellate levels.

Mr. Small previously practiced law with a large Philadelphia law firm and as Assistant General Counsel with two Fortune 500 companies. These experiences give him a unique understanding of the needs of businesses for timely and efficient legal services provided at the highest level.

Mr. Small advises clients in estate planning, with a focus on helping business owners transfer ownership to succeeding generations or to third party purchasers. He advises those having special estate planning, contractual and cohabitation issues that arise due to special circumstances or non-traditional relationships.

Mr. Small also represents individuals suffering significant personal injuries in motor vehicle and other accidents.

“My goal is to understand the client’s objectives and recommend viable options for achieving those objectives efficiently; to respond to client inquiries promptly; to pro-actively alert the client to impending changes in the law, to help the client anticipate and avoid problems and, to advocate forcefully for the client, while encouraging the client to use legal services to avoid or minimize problems at an early stage.”

Believing that lawyers have a special obligation to give back to their community, Mr. Small provides pro bono legal services to at risk children, serves on the governing bodies of, and solicits charitable contributions for several non-profit organizations and religious institutions.
